SMC’s Dr. Judy Mirick Named AAC Faculty Athletics Representative of the Year
SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Spartanburg Methodist College Faculty Athletics Representative Dr. Judy Mirick has been named the 2025-26 Appalachian Athletic Conference Dr. Larry Inkster Faculty Athletics Representative of the Year, recognizing her outstanding service and commitment to student-athlete success.
The award is presented annually to an AAC Faculty Athletics Representative who demonstrates exceptional leadership in supporting the academic achievement, well-being, and overall development of student-athletes while serving as a vital bridge between athletics and the institution's academic mission.
"Dr. Judy Mirick embodies everything this award represents," said SMC Director of Athletics Megan Aiello. "Her commitment to our student-athletes extends far beyond the classroom. She is a trusted advocate, a thoughtful leader, and a passionate supporter of the educational experience. We are incredibly proud to see her recognized by the Appalachian Athletic Conference."
Mirick has served as Spartanburg Methodist College's Faculty Athletics Representative while playing a key role in fostering an environment where academic excellence and athletic achievement work hand in hand. She has been instrumental in supporting student-athletes throughout their academic journeys while helping ensure the institution maintains its commitment to the values of higher education and intercollegiate athletics.
The award is named in honor of Dr. Larry Inkster, a longtime advocate for student-athlete success and the important role Faculty Athletics Representatives play within collegiate athletics.
Throughout the 2025-26 academic year, Spartanburg Methodist College student-athletes continued to excel in the classroom. The department recorded 165 student-athletes on the Athletic Director's Honor Roll during both the fall and spring semesters, while 67 student-athletes earned perfect 4.0 grade-point averages during the spring term. In addition, SMC produced 32 NAIA Scholar-Athletes and saw 11 athletic programs finish with team grade-point averages above 3.0.
