SMC Beach Volleyball Splits Final Home Matches, Sweeps Brenau Before Falling to Truett McConnell
SPARTANBURG, SC – The Spartanburg Methodist College beach volleyball team split its final two matches of the season, sweeping Brenau, 5-0, before falling 5-0 to Truett McConnell.
In the win over Brenau, Katherine James and Arielle Deas set the tone with a 21-7, 21-7 victory at the No. 2 flight. The Pioneers added a point at No. 4, where Alexandra Picciano and Gracie Gabbert won 21-15, 21-4. SMC clinched the match at No. 1, as Rebekah Martin and Hana Vucinic secured a 21-11, 21-12 victory.
The sweep was completed at No. 3 by Courtney Brackett and Brook Noe, while Carter Bradshaw and Heather Danforth closed out the match with a three-set win at No. 5, 21-8, 21-23, 15-11.
SMC wrapped up the day with a competitive 5-0 loss to Truett McConnell. One of the closest contests came at the No. 4 flight, where Alexandra Picciano and Gracie Gabbert dropped a three-set decision, 21-16, 14-21, 15-13.
The match also marked the final home appearance for Carter Bradshaw and Brook Noe.
