Meredith Leads SMC Women's Golf at Northeast Tennessee Shootout
SPARTANBURG, SC – The Spartanburg Methodist College women's golf team placed sixth at the Northeast Tennessee Spring Shootout, which concluded Tuesday.
Competing in an unusual 36-hole, single-day format, the Pioneers posted a team score of 758 (382-376). Host Milligan claimed the team title with a 634 (315-319), while Milligan's Bailey McGaha earned individual medalist honors with a 150 (+6, 77-73), winning by seven strokes.
SMC was led by junior Melanie Meredith, who finished tied for 36th with a 183 (+39, 90-93), recording 10 pars over her 36 holes. Sophomore Gracelyn Toler followed closely with a 185 (+41, 93-92) and totaled eight pars.
Junior Isabella Marz carded a 188 (+44, 100-88), highlighted by an 88 in the final round—the lowest score by a Pioneer on the day. She led the team with 11 pars and added a birdie on No. 10 during her opening round.
Rounding out the scoring for SMC was sophomore Adeline Todd, who finished 34th with a 202 (99-103) and recorded six pars across her two rounds.
The Pioneers will next compete at the Appalachian Athletic Conference Championships, scheduled for April 27-29 at Governors Towne Club in Acworth, Georgia.
