Brown Runs Into History, Advances to 200m Final at NAIA Indoor Championships
SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Spartanburg Methodist College junior Romeo Brown made program history Friday at the 2026 NAIA Indoor Track & Field Championships, advancing to the finals of the men's 200 meters.
A native of Newberry, South Carolina, Brown posted a time of 21.45 seconds, winning his heat and securing a spot in Saturday's championship final. His mark ranked as the third-fastest time among the eight finalists.
"Romeo came in today as the underdog, and like he so often does, he delivered when it mattered most," said SMC head coach Jannai Maxwell. "He stayed composed, trusted his race, and put himself in position to compete for a national title tomorrow."
With the performance, Brown becomes the first Spartanburg Methodist College track and field athlete in the NAIA era to advance to a national championship final.
The 200-meter finals are scheduled for Saturday at 3:40 p.m.
