SMC Women’s Golf in Fourth After Opening Round at East Tennessee Collegiate
After Monday's opening round of the East Tennessee Collegiate, the Spartanburg Methodist College women's golf team stands in fourth place with a team score of 345 (+57). The University of the Cumberlands leads the field after posting a 290 (+2), holding a seven-stroke advantage.
The race for individual medalist honors is tight, with three players tied at the top. Atchariya Thanaudomkul and Ainslee Cruce of Cumberlands, along with Tayla Howroyd of Pikeville, each carded an even-par 72.
Leading the way for the Pioneers is Isabella Marz, who is tied for 15th after posting an 81 (+9). Marz recorded a birdie on the par-4 fifth hole and added nine pars in her round, including six on the front nine.
Close behind is Gracelyn Toler, tied for 20th with an 84 (+12). Toler's round featured a birdie on the par-4 eighth hole. Just one stroke back, Adeline Todd shot an 85 (+13) and highlighted her round with a birdie on the par-5 ninth hole.
Melanie Meredith posted a 95 (+23), placing her in 29th, with three pars on the day. Rounding out the lineup, Tinsley McDaris sits in 34th after shooting a 119, highlighted by two pars in her opening three holes.
