SPARTANBURG, SC - The Spartanburg Methodist College women's basketball team extended its winning streak to five games with a 75–65 victory over Union Commonwealth on Saturday afternoon.
The Pioneers (10–7, 5–5 AAC) were powered by a trio of double-figure scorers, led by Krystal Johnson and Destiny Middleton, who each scored 20 points. Halle Traylor added 18 points in the win. Johnson scored 12 of her 20 points in the first half, while Middleton poured in 14 of her 20 after halftime.
Union Commonwealth (4–14, 3–8 AAC) was led by Kylie Noe's 16-point performance. Aymanni Wynn finished with 13 points, and Ella Coffey added 12 in the loss.
Trailing 47–40 with 6:08 remaining in the third quarter, the Pioneers seized momentum with a decisive 16–3 run to take control of the contest. The Bulldogs pulled within nine points in the final quarter but were unable to close the gap.
The five-game winning streak marks SMC's longest since the 2023–24 season, when the Pioneers captured the NJCAA Region X Championship and advanced to the Mid-Atlantic District Championship.
Spartanburg Methodist will look to continue its streak on Wednesday when it travels to Gainesville, Georgia, for a 5:30 p.m. tipoff against Brenau. The matchup will be the first meeting between the two programs.
