Pioneers Open Home Invitational in Fourth Place
Gaffney, S.C. – The Spartanburg Methodist College women's golf team is hosting the Pioneers Fall Invitational at Cherokee National Golf and Recreational Club, which got underway Monday.
After the opening round, SMC sits in fourth place in the six-team field, with fellow AAC member Tennessee Wesleyan leading the team competition after posting a 345 (+57) for a 12-shot lead. The Bulldogs are paced by individual leader Maisie Hassall, who fired a 75 (+3) with a pair of birdies to hold a six-stroke advantage.
The Pioneers posted a team score of 375 (+87) and are led by Adeline Todd, who sits in 11th place after carding an 89 (+17) that included six pars. Just one stroke behind is Isabella Marz, who recorded a 90 (+18) with six pars of her own.
Next for SMC is Melanie Meredith, who shot a 97 and is tied for 22nd, followed by Gracelyn Toler, who posted a 99 and stands in 24th. Meredith recorded pars on holes No. 1 and No. 9, while Toler notched five pars in her round. Rounding out the lineup, Tinsley McDaris continues to show improvement, carding a 113 (+41) with a par on No. 18.
The tournament will conclude Tuesday with a 9 a.m. shotgun start.
