Mount Vernon, Ga. – Brewton-Parker closed out the first half on a 26–5 run on its way to a 77–45 win over Spartanburg Methodist College men's basketball Monday afternoon.
A jumper by the Pioneers' Calvin Brown and a pair of free throws by Caleb Jenkins tied the game at 15 with 10:20 left in the opening half.
Back-to-back 3-pointers by Tommy Tisdale III sparked the decisive run as the Barons scored the next 21 points on their way to the win.
SMC (3–11) was led by a 13-point effort from Musa Muriithi and 12 points with nine rebounds from CJ Terrell.
The win by the Barons avenged an 84–66 loss to the Pioneers on Nov. 29 in Spartanburg. Brewton-Parker (10–3) was led by a 31-point performance from Tisdale, who knocked down seven 3-pointers. He was joined in double figures by Jadon Melvin and Gil Gonzalez, who scored 12 and 10 points, respectively.
Next, SMC returns to Appalachian Athletic Conference play when it travels to Tennessee Wesleyan on Saturday, Jan. 3, in Athens, Tennessee, for a 4 p.m. matchup.
