SPARTANBURG, SC – Reserves Zenai Davis and Cameron Pulley scored 14 and 10 points, respectively, as the Spartanburg Methodist College men's basketball team fell 79-58 to Reinhardt on Saturday afternoon.
The Eagles (1-7, 1-1 AAC) opened the game with a 9-0 run and never trailed. Reinhardt stretched its lead to as many as 18 points, 25-7, after a pair of free throws from Tee Williams. Williams finished with a game-high 19 points and was joined in double figures by Derrick Brown and Nekhi Fisher, who scored 15 and 12 points, respectively.
The Pioneers (0-7, 0-3 AAC) came out strong in the second half, using a 15-2 run to close the gap to 37-34 with 13:55 remaining. Williams and the Eagles responded with a 14-2 run of their own to halt the SMC comeback attempt, and the lead remained in double digits for the rest of the contest.
Pulley entered the game with 6:13 remaining and made an immediate impact, scoring all 10 of his points down the stretch. He accounted for 10 of SMC's final 13 points.
Next, SMC will travel to Dayton, Tennessee, to face Bryan on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
