SMC Wins on Senior Day, 12-6
SPARTANBURG, S.C. - The Spartanburg Methodist College baseball team celebrated 12 seniors in pregame ceremonies prior to Tuesday's game against Toccoa Falls, and many of which played a role in the Pioneers' 12–6 victory.
Spartanburg Methodist College (19–18) scored four runs in both the fourth and seventh innings, added two more in the sixth, and plated single runs in the third and eighth innings on its way to the win.
Offensively, the Pioneers pounded out 13 hits, providing ample support for six SMC pitchers. All nine starters recorded a hit, with seniors Brady Jeffcoat and Jarian Pinckney, along with redshirt junior Tanner Martin—who was also honored in the pregame ceremony—and freshman Kohen Bridges each tallying two hits. Martin drove in four runs, while Pinckney, Bridges, and Jeffcoat each added two RBI.
Senior Blake Exizian started on the mound, pitching four innings before handing the ball off to fellow seniors Cole Montgomery, Miles Feldner, and Payton Gardner, who each recorded an inning of relief. Alex Higdon and Preston Coggins also saw action out of the bullpen. Feldner earned his first win of the season after tossing a scoreless sixth inning.
Honored prior to the game were Dario Astudillo, Travis Dannecker, Blake Exizian, Miles Feldner, Payton Gardner, Brady Jeffcoat, Hunter Lancaster, Cole Montgomery, Jarian Pinckney, Tanner Martin, Matt Smith, and Greyson Wild.
SMC will next host a three-game series against Georgia Gwinnett, with action beginning Friday at 5 p.m. at Mooneyham Field.
