SMC Women’s Golf Climbs to Third with Strong Final Round at Pioneers Fall Invitational
GAFFNEY, S.C. – The Spartanburg Methodist College women's golf team finished third at the Pioneers Fall Invitational on Tuesday.
The Pioneers posted a team score of 734 (+158, 375-359), improving by 16 strokes in the final round. Their 359 was the second-lowest team score among the six-team field on Tuesday.
Fellow AAC member Tennessee Wesleyan claimed the team title with a 700 (+124, 345-355). The Bulldogs were led by individual champion Maisie Hassall, who carded a 158 (+14, 75-83) to edge Marissa Holder of Georgia Military by one stroke.
Adeline Todd led SMC with a seventh-place finish, shooting 174 (+30, 89-85). Isabella Marz placed 11th with a 178 (+34, 90-88), while Gracelyn Toler improved by eight strokes in the final round to tie for 18th at 190 (+46, 99-91).
Melanie Meredith also showed improvement, lowering her score by two strokes on Tuesday to finish 21st with a 192 (+48, 97-95). Tinsley McDaris rounded out the Pioneer lineup in 32nd place with a 235 (+91, 113-122).
The Pioneers will close out their fall schedule in two weeks at the AAC Preview at the Governors Towne Club in Acworth, Georgia.
