SMC Women's Golf Leads Fincastle Intercollegiate After Opening Round
BLUEFIELD, Va. – With a pair of birdies from sophomore Adeline Todd, who sits in second place overall, the Spartanburg Methodist College women's golf team leads the field after Monday's opening round of the Fincastle Intercollegiate.
The Pioneers posted a team score of 346 (+66) and hold a six-stroke advantage over Mars Hill (N.C.), their closest competitor. Todd is just one stroke off the individual lead after carding an 83 (+13). Teammate Isabella Marz is in third place after shooting an 85 (+15), which included a birdie.
Rounding out the lineup, Melanie Meredith is tied for fifth after posting an 87 (+17) in the first 18 holes of the season. Gracelyn Toler is also inside the top 10, tied for ninth with a 91 (+21). Newcomer Tinsley McDaris, competing in her first collegiate event, finished with a 126 (+56).
The final round is set for Tuesday at Fincastle Country Club, with McDaris scheduled to tee off at 9:40 a.m.
