Columbia, S.C. – Host Columbia International University recorded a blistering .418 hitting percentage on its way to a 25-17, 25-8, 25-15 win over Spartanburg Methodist College on Tuesday night.
Spartanburg Methodist (12-17, 7-9 AAC) was led by Kendall Meinders, who tallied seven kills in the contest. Katherine James and Aurora Aho each added seven digs for the Pioneers.
CIU (18-6, 14-2 AAC) was paced by a pair of 11-kill efforts from Mary Nortwood and Katelynn Mundy. The Rams committed just eight hitting errors on the night and finished with nine team blocks. Lydia Gustafson contributed one solo block and four block assists, while Zceaira James and Eevy Beller each recorded three blocks.
Next, SMC will travel to face AAC leader Reinhardt on Friday, Oct. 31, at 4:30 p.m.
