SMC Softball’s Historic Start and Strong Season Ends in 8–0 AAC Tournament Loss to Brenau
Due to weather conditions in the Kingsport, Tennessee area, the Spartanburg Methodist College softball team did not take the field until 9 p.m. Tuesday for an elimination game against Brenau. The Pioneers' season came to an end with an 8-0 loss to the Tigers.
SMC finishes the season with a 29–18 record, a campaign marked by notable accomplishments both on and off the field. In the loss, the Pioneers were limited to three singles.
The 2026 season featured multiple record-setting performances, including the best start in program history. SMC opened the year with eight consecutive wins and won 12 of its first 13 games. As a team, the Pioneers posted a .280 batting average, with five players hitting over .300, while outscoring opponents 210–150. The pitching staff recorded 187 strikeouts across 304.1 innings and produced nine shutouts.
