SMC Women’s Cross Country Begins 2025 Campaign
SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Spartanburg Methodist College women's cross country team opened its 2025 season Friday evening at the Converse Kick-Off, held at Milliken Research Park.
Competing in humid conditions against a primarily NCAA Division II field, the Pioneers were led by sophomore Polly Addington, who covered the 5K course in 23:47.5—just three seconds shy of her personal best.
North Greenville freshman Mandi Pollar captured the individual title with a time of 18:50.3, helping the Crusaders secure the team championship with five runners in the top 19 and 50 total points.
For SMC, returnees Nsimire Bahongwehre (106th, 25:44.7) and Anna Altman (109th, 25:59.5) followed Addington. Newcomers Gabby Jarvis (117th, 29:06.8) and Kymbre Griffin (123rd, 31:52.6) rounded out the Pioneers' lineup.
The Pioneers return to action September 12 at the Pfeiffer Invitational, hosted at the Pfeiffer Cross Country Course in Misenheimer, North Carolina.
