Michelangelo Dovidio enters his second season as an assistant men's soccer coach at Spartanburg Methodist College after helping guide the Pioneers through a successful transition into NAIA competition and the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC).

During his first season on the coaching staff, Dovidio played an instrumental role in one of the most significant campaigns in the program's recent history. The Pioneers earned the program's first-ever berth in the Appalachian Athletic Conference Tournament, recorded their first conference victory with a 3-1 road win at Montreat, and put together a five-match unbeaten streak while establishing themselves as a rising program within one of the NAIA's most competitive conferences. The team's defensive organization was a hallmark of its success, finishing among the conference leaders in goals-against average while also ranking among the AAC's top eight in goals scored, total points, and shots.

Dovidio has also helped elevate the individual success of the program's student-athletes. Under his guidance, Spartanburg Methodist produced its first NAIA-era All-Appalachian Athletic Conference selections, with two student-athletes earning Second Team All-AAC honors. Senior goalkeeper Francesco Molinar became the program's first AAC Defensive Player of the Week during the Pioneers' postseason-clinching stretch, while freshman forward Anthoney Bedolla Menera emerged as one of the conference's promising young talents after delivering multiple game-winning performances in his debut season.

Prior to joining Spartanburg Methodist, Dovidio built a strong foundation as both a player and coach. A standout midfielder at University of South Carolina Upstate, he helped lead the Spartans to the program's first ASUN Tournament Championship in 2015, scoring the game-winning goal in the tournament semifinal against Florida Gulf Coast. A team captain during his senior season, Dovidio made 56 career appearances with 50 starts while earning the program's Leadership Award for his dedication on and off the field. After graduating with a degree in business administration, he completed a master's degree in sports management in Italy while earning his first-level Coerver Coaching License before beginning his collegiate coaching career at his alma mater.

Known for his emphasis on player development, tactical organization, and building a competitive culture, Dovidio continues to play an integral role in the growth of Spartanburg Methodist men's soccer as the Pioneers establish themselves as contenders within the Appalachian Athletic Conference.
