Spartanburg Methodist College Announces Hiring of Elijah Todd as Assistant Men’s and Women’s Golf Coach
Spartanburg, S.C. – Spartanburg Methodist College has announced the hiring of Elijah Todd as the assistant men’s and women’s golf coach, beginning with the 2025–26 academic year.
Todd, a 2024 graduate of Spartanburg Methodist College, returns to his alma mater after gaining professional experience in both the business and golf industries. In his role, he will be heavily involved in recruiting, player development, and the day-to-day operations of both golf programs.
“I am excited to welcome Elijah Todd back to Spartanburg Methodist College,” said SMC head coach Kevin Cotrell. “As an SMC graduate, he understands our culture and what we are building within the golf program. His strong golf knowledge and familiarity with our expectations will be a great asset to our student-athletes, both on and off the course.”
Prior to entering coaching, Todd worked with Lima One Capital, where he collaborated with builders, developers, and investors to tailor financing solutions for fix-and-flip, new construction, and rental projects. That role sharpened his organizational, communication, and relationship-management skills—tools that translate directly to collegiate recruiting and prospect engagement. He also spent time at Golf Galaxy, gaining hands-on experience in a golf-centered environment while assisting with inventory preparation and customer service.
As a student at Spartanburg Methodist College, Todd was actively involved in community outreach, serving as a leader with Sports for Everyone in Roebuck. In that role, he organized and directed a youth sports camp serving more than 60 participants and utilized marketing and design skills to increase program visibility and engagement. That experience further supports his ability to connect with prospective student-athletes and families.
Todd was a two-year member of the SMC men’s golf team and was twice named to the NJCAA All-Academic First Team. He graduated summa cum laude and received the Dr. David English Camak Honors Award, presented to the student with the highest GPA.
Todd’s familiarity with SMC, combined with his professional background and passion for the game, positions him to make an immediate impact on recruiting and program development for the Pioneers.
