Alex Moore Named Assistant Baseball Coach at Spartanburg Methodist College

“Having spent three seasons in the opposite dugout from Alex, game-planning against his pitching staff, it became an easy decision to bring him onto our team,” said Miller. “There’s no question he played a major role in Lander’s success over the past four seasons, both in developing one of the region’s top pitching staffs and recruiting high level players across the country.”

“I’d like to thank Coach (Tyler) Miller and Athletic Director (Megan) Aiello for this opportunity. I am excited to get the chance to work alongside Tyler and build upon the strong legacy and tradition of SMC baseball,” said Moore.

Moore joins the Spartanburg Methodist College baseball staff as assistant coach and pitching coach after spending the past four seasons at Lander University, where he served as assistant coach, pitching coach, and recruiting coordinator. During his tenure, Lander's pitching staff consistently ranked among the top in the Peach Belt Conference and nationally, producing multiple All-Conference pitchers, a conference no-hitter, and the program's first MLB Draft picks since 2019. In 2025, the Bearcats ranked among the nation's leaders in hits allowed per nine innings while leading the conference in wins, strikeouts, and opponent batting average. 

Before entering the coaching ranks, Moore enjoyed a standout collegiate career at Lander after transferring from Eckerd College. He was selected by the Chicago Cubs in the 18th round of the 2019 MLB Draft and spent three professional seasons in the Cubs and Colorado Rockies organizations, advancing to the Double-A level.
