SMC Retires Number of Legendary Head Coach Tim Wallace
SPARTANBURG, SC – Spartanburg Methodist College formally retired the number of longtime head baseball coach Tim Wallace prior to Saturday's doubleheader against Bryan College.
Wallace finished his career with 1,351 wins—the fourth-most in junior college history. Under his leadership, SMC won 11 Region 10 Championships. He was named Region 10 Coach of the Year eight times, earned the Louisville Slugger Coaches Award four times, and was an eight-time American Baseball Coaches Association Regional Coach of the Year. Eight players were named NJCAA All-Americans during his tenure, and more than 150 signed professional baseball contracts.
In recognition of his playing career, Wallace was inducted into the Wofford College Hall of Fame in 2000. His coaching accolades include induction into the SMC Hall of Honor in 2012 and the NJCAA Baseball Coaches Hall of Fame in 2014.
