Colby Stuart joined the SMC baseball staff in July 2025.

Stuart comes to SMC after spending the last seven years at NCAA Division I member East Tennessee State University (ETSU), including two years as a member of the coaching staff. While at ETSU, he worked with a pitching staff that posted a 41-17 record in 2025. In 501.0 innings, the staff struck out 460 batters and held opponents to a .253 batting average, helping lead ETSU to the 2025 Southern Conference Baseball Regular Season and Tournament titles and a berth in the NCAA Tournament. In 2024, ETSU went 36-20—marking the fourth-most wins in school history.

Before joining the coaching staff, Stuart was one of the most dominant arms on the ETSU pitching staff. He made 49 appearances over five seasons. As a junior, he was named First Team All-SoCon by both the coaches and the media. Throughout his career, he saw action as both a starter and a reliever for the Buccaneers.

Originally from Elon, N.C., Stuart earned both his bachelor’s degree and a master’s certificate from ETSU. He is joined in Spartanburg by his wife, Anderson.
