SMC Women’s Soccer Places Three on CSC Academic All-District Team
SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Teams for women’s soccer across all three NCAA divisions and the NAIA were announced on Tuesday afternoon, and Spartanburg Methodist College earned three selections. Juniors Addie Hawkins and CJ Hawkins, along with sophomore Caroline Taylor, were recognized for their academic and athletic achievements.
Caroline Taylor, a sophomore midfielder from Landrum, scored three goals and added two assists this season. She recorded the game-winning goal against Carolina (Aug. 27) and also found the back of the net against Milligan (Sept. 6) and Johnson (Sept. 24). Her assists came in matches against Bluefield (Oct. 4) and Columbia (S.C.) (Oct. 21).
CJ Hawkins, a junior defender from Travelers Rest, started all 14 games she played for the Pioneers. Her work on the back line, alongside second-team All-AAC goalkeeper Ava Wilson, helped SMC hold opponents to a 2.11 goals-against average and record seven shutouts. This marks the second consecutive year she has earned the Academic All-District honor.
Addie Hawkins, a junior forward from Travelers Rest, finished second on the team with nine points (four goals and one assist) and totaled 20 shots while appearing in 17 matches with 16 starts.
All three student-athletes played pivotal roles in leading SMC to the AAC Women’s Soccer Tournament in the program’s first year of conference membership.
To be eligible for consideration, student-athletes must compete in 90 percent of the team’s matches or start at least 66 percent of those contests, and must hold a minimum 3.50 cumulative grade-point average.
The NAIA CSC Academic All-America® program is partially supported financially through the NAIA governance structure.
