Takoma Park, Md. - A goal in the 7th minute by Addie Hawkins and a goal in the 44th minute from Camden Brooks propelled the visiting Spartanburg Methodist Women's Soccer team to a 2-0 win over host Washington Adventist on Saturday night.
The win is the fifth shutout of the season for SMC as the Pioneers raise their 2024 record to 8-3 on the season. It is the second time in three seasons that SMC has recorded five shutouts.
The goal by Addie Hawkins is her team-best sixth goal of the season, plus for Brooks, it is her second goal of the season. The shutout is the fourth on the season for Ava Wilson, who made a save as she faced just one shot. The SMC attack controlled the contest, recording 15 shots to just one for Washington Adventist. Addie Hawkins had a game-high four shots to lead the Pioneers.
Next, SMC will face Fisher (Mass.) in a neutral-site contest on Sunday at 5 p.m.
