SMC Names Kennedy Dunnings Head Women's Soccer Coach
SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Spartanburg Methodist College Director of Athletics Megan Aiello announced today that Kennedy Dunnings has been named the permanent head coach of the women’s soccer program.
Dunnings joined the program as an assistant coach for the 2025 season and was elevated to interim head coach following the departure of former head coach Debbie Pekel. She now assumes the role on a full-time basis.
“We are thrilled to elevate Kennedy Dunnings to the role of head coach,” said Aiello. “Throughout her time with our program, Kennedy has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to our student-athletes, a deep understanding of our institutional values, and a clear vision for sustained competitive success. This decision reflects not only the confidence we have in her coaching acumen, but also in her capacity to lead our program with integrity, energy, and purpose. We are excited for the future under her direction.”
Under Dunnings’ leadership, the Pioneers advanced to the Appalachian Athletic Conference Tournament in 2025. Twelve women’s soccer student-athletes earned Appalachian Athletic Conference All-Academic Team honors, while sophomore goalkeeper Ava Wilson was named Second Team All-Conference. Additionally, three Pioneers were selected to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team.
