SMC’s Zy Bell Recognized as AAC Defensive Player of the Week

SPARTANBURG, SC - Spartanburg Methodist College women’s basketball senior guard Zy Bell (Anderson, S.C. / Westside HS) was named the Appalachian Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Defensive Player of the Week on Monday.

Bell averaged 5.0 steals, 4.5 rebounds, and 7.0 points as SMC earned wins over CIU and Bluefield last week. It marks the first time in her career she has received this weekly honor.

This is the second time Bell has earned weekly recognition for her defensive efforts, as she was previously named the Continental Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week on December 16, 2024.

The Pioneers return to action on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. when they travel to face Life University.
