Bryan Bayonne Named CAC Men's Basketball Player of the Year
SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Spartanburg Methodist College senior guard Bryan Bayonne (Baton Rouge, Louisiana) was named the Continental Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Year announced by conference officials on Thursday.
Bayonne and the SMC men’s basketball program are in its first year of participation in the NAIA. He has led the Pioneers and the NAIA by averaging 24.5 points per game, highlighted by a 24.9 scoring averaging in 10 conference games. He made 61 3-point field goals and shot 46% of all field goals in 25 games. Bayonne also grabbed 6.2 rebounds per outing and tallied 68 assists.
His efforts also earned him first team all-conference honors.
Teammate Marshall Lamb (pictured to the left) was the Champion of Character recipient for SMC.
Up next, the Pioneers will take part in the upcoming Continental Athletic Conference men’s basketball tournament. SMC will take on Washington Adventist on Friday at 4 p.m. (EST)/3 p.m. (CST).
