Hunter Closes Historic Run at NAIA Championships
Tallahassee, Florida — The storied 2025 cross country season for Spartanburg Methodist College junior Ryan Hunter came to a close on Friday at the 2025 NAIA Cross Country Championships. Competing on the 8K course at Apalachee Regional Park, Hunter steadily worked his way through the pack, gaining positions throughout the race. The Inman, S.C., native crossed the finish line in 25:37.2, placing 72nd overall.
“I couldn’t be prouder of Ryan," said SMC head coach Jannai Maxwell. "To start the day seeded outside the top 150 and battle his way to 72nd shows tremendous grit. He ran in the top third of one of the toughest fields in the country.”
Hunter is the first SMC male student-athlete to represent the College at the NAIA Cross Country Championships and earned two AAC Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week honors during the season.
