Byrd Sets School Record as Pioneers Close AAC Indoor Championships with Two Program Marks
SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Carson Byrd led the Spartanburg Methodist College women's track and field team on the final day of the 2026 Appalachian Athletic Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships.
The freshman sprinter paced the young squad with a runner-up finish in the 60-meter dash, setting a school record with a time of 7.82. Fellow freshman De'Nasia Robinson placed eighth in the event, clocking a time of 8.18.
SMC was also represented by Makhia Williams in the 3,000-meter race walk, where she earned an eighth-place finish with a time of 30:36.41.
In the field events, freshman Mckensley Parks finished eighth in the shot put with a school record throw of 34-3.5 (10.45 meters).
The meet concluded with the Pioneers' 4x400-meter relay team of Da'Sani Kinlaw, Jayla Bivings, Tieranny Jeter, and Eva Sapp recording a school-record time of 4:28.65.
